Optimise your liver function with Livatone Plus

What Is Livatone Plus?

Cabot Health Livatone Plus 60

Livatone Plus is a well-known liver-supportive formula that has been on the natural supplement market for over 20 years! It’s a targeted liver supplement that utilises key nutrients for optimal liver health;

  • St Mary’s Thistle
  • Turmeric
  • B Vitamins
  • Taurine
  • Calcium
  • Selenium

How Does Livatone Plus Work?

Livatone Plus has four major functions:

Detoxification

The specific ingredients found in Livatone Plus have been chosen due to their ability to initiate the body’s innate detoxification pathways. We have two main detoxification pathways which we refer to as;

  • Phase I

  • Phase II

Certain nutrients and herbs both activate and deactivate these pathways, so the selection in a liver formula, in addition to the foods and beverages consumed while taking a supplement like Livatone Plus is crucial.

Phase I detoxification is absolutely dependent upon B vitamins, hence their place in this formula. Additionally, St Mary’s Thistle and Selenium induce liver detoxification. In fact, correct detoxification is inhibited by a lack of Selenium, so adequate levels are crucial. Turmeric is specific to initiate Phase II detoxification, and it also increases glutathione levels. Glutathione is a key antioxidant and also plays a major role in liver detoxification.

Taurine initiates a key process of liver detoxification known as glucuronidation. Glucuronidation is the process through which the body metabolises specific substances including; drugs, pollutants, some hormones, fatty acids and bile acids.

Energy + Metabolism

The liver is often referred to as the master organ of the human body. A well-functioning liver, infers a healthy body. The liver is involved in the majority of the body’s metabolic processes, especially dietary carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals and alcohol. The aforementioned list sums up the food and beverages we eat… If our liver wasn’t working properly, how would we digest, absorb and assimilate the goodness from our diets, have the energy to live, and feel the vitality from the abundance of nutrition we’re (hopefully) eating?

Our daily lives place quite a burden on the liver (hello alcohol, environmental toxins, chemicals, less-than-ideal food choices), yet somehow the liver works (mostly) without complaint. Livatone Plus is a supportive supplement to help keep the liver working efficiently, ensuring it’s able to correctly process, detoxify and eliminate substances that are a little harder to break down.

The B Vitamins in the Livatone Plus formula also assist with energy creation. B Vitamins are essential precursors to energy production, they are crucial within a stressed body and they facilitate repair within our cells, especially while we’re sleeping.

Bile Production

The liver is the primary site for both bile production and release into the gallbladder for timely fat digestion. The health of the liver completely influences bile production and quality, which is key to good digestion and health overall. Bile serves many important bodily functions too;

  • Removes toxic substances that reside in fats from within the body

  • Eliminates unnecessary and excess cholesterol

  • Protects the body from infection

  • Emulsifies with dietary fats to ensure our bodies absorb what they need

Anti-inflammatory

The turmeric within Livatone Plus is a potent anti-inflammatory, thanks to its active constituent; curcumin. Curcumin has been thoroughly trialled to not only reduce inflammation, but also pain associated with inflammatory conditions.

Additionally, turmeric is a strong antioxidant, that has been shown to help protect the body from oxidative damage, specific to the liver.

Is Livatone Plus Right for Me?

Livatone Plus is extremely helpful for people and conditions including;

  • Sluggish bile flow and gallbladder problems
  • Had their gallbladder removed
  • Weak digestion
  • Poor detoxification in the liver

  • Liver dysfunction symptoms, chemical sensitivities and brown liver spots
  • Abdominal bloating, burping and flatulence
  • Sluggish liver function
  • Liver inflammation
  • Where extra antioxidant effects are required

How Else Can I Assist Liver Function?

Looking towards foods that increase liver function and bile flow is a great way to boost liver health aside from supplementation. Focusing on dietary methods for boosting liver health not only helps to manage symptoms, but also helps to slow down and eventually stop the progression of many liver conditions from developing into disease states.

  • Brassica Vegetables - Broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, cabbage, kale and Brussels sprouts are fantastic options for boosting liver health. These vegetables initiate both phase I and phase II of liver detoxification.

  • Green Tea - Is especially rich in polyphenols, which are potent antioxidants that have been shown to be liver-protective. Polyphenols protect against oxidative liver damage and fatty liver.

  • Ginger - This common spice has been shown to exert liver-protecting properties, especially when damage is induced by substances including alcohol, heavy metals and environmental toxins. Ginger is especially helpful due to its ability to counteract free radicals.

  • Cholagogues - This is the name given to substances and foods which stimulate the production of bile within the body. Turmeric, aloe vera, artichokes, celery and radish are all great cholagogues. Healthy dietary fats are also necessary to produce adequate bile. These include; avocado, nuts, seeds, eggs, olives, and high quality, unprocessed meats.
