St John's Wort contains the naphthodianthrones hypericin and pseudohypericin (hypericin), flavonoids, phenolics and other compounds. This product is standardised to contain 1.05 mg of hypericin and 18 mg flavonoid glycosides per tablet to ensure optimal strength and quality.

Ingredients 

Each tablet contains:

  • Hypericum perforatum (St John's Wort) extract equivalent to dry herb flowering top 1.8 g 
    • standardised to contain hypericin 1.05 mg
    • standardised to contain flavonoid glycosides 18 mg
Dose and Usage 
Adults: 1 tablet 2-3 times daily.
 
 
Warning 
 
ht. St John's Wort is not advisable in cases of known photosensitivity. Patients taking high doses should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight and UV radiation. St John's Wort affects the way some prescription medicines work. Concurrent administration of high doses of St John's Wort is contraindicated with the following drugs: warfarin, digoxin, immunosuppressive drugs such as cyclosporin, indinavir (HIV protease inhibitor), nevirapine (HIV non-nucleoside transcriptase inhibitor), phenprocoumon, nifedipine, methadone, finasteride, cancer chemotherapeutic drugs such as irinotecan and calcium channel antagonists such as verapamil. Caution is advised in patients taking anticonvulsants, combined oral contraceptives, theophylline, SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), antihistamines, benzodiazepines, oxycodone, omeprazole, hypoglycaemic drugs, methylphenidate, ivabradine, talinolol and voriconazole. Caution is advised in patients taking statin drugs, monitor blood cholesterol regularly. It is possible for St John's Wort to interact with amitriptyline by reducing the level of the drug and it is advisable to monitor patients also taking this medication. Caution is advised in patients with known clopidogrel resistance. Consume at least 2 hours away from ingestion of mineral supplements. Discontinue 7 days prior to general anaesthesia.
